Jenny Mair Highland Square Day

On Saturday 10 December the Jenny Mair Highland Square Day will once again be held at The Square in Palmerston North. 

Now in its 37th year, Square Day is one of New Zealand's most significant pipe band contests, attracting bands from around the country and across all skill levels in what has now become the second-largest pipe band contest in New Zealand (second only to the National Pipe Band Championships). 

In addition to the Pipe Band contest, there will be a number of associated highland dancing and solo piping and drumming events held across the weekend.

The weekends events begin on the evening of Friday 9 December at the Celtic Inn, where the Open Solo Side Drumming event will be held, with Highland dancing and the rest of the solo piping and drumming events beginning at 8.00am on the Saturday morning. The first of the competing bands step out at 11.00am, and the day concludes with a massed band and prize-giving at approximately 5.45pm.
