The wearing of a Sgian Dubh in the hose top is a core tradition based on centuries of common wear and etiquette. Modern Sgian Dubhs are dress only - blunt chrome bladed, not the "Black Knife" of old which was carried concealed and was both the clansman's last line of defence and a practical work knife. The wearing of the knife in the hose top comes from the tradition that guests displayed all concealed weapons, either on the table or in the hose top.
Our Stone Top Sgian Dubhs are available in a variety of different stones. Clickhere to see the colours available.
