NZ Pipe Band Championships

This weekend pipe bands from around the country will be coming together in Nelson to compete in the New Zealand Pipe Band Championships.

Held annually on the second weekend in March, this years Championship is being hosted by the Nelson-based Celtic Pipe Band at Trafalgar Park on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 March.

The Championship features bands across all grades and ranges of skill levels, with the main Grade 4B, Grade 4A, Grade 3, and Juvenile music events being held on Friday, and the Grade 2 and Grade 1 music events being held on Saturday. There will also be a street march through the Nelson city centre on Saturday morning, as well as mace flourishing and display events during the Saturday afternoon.

This years Championship will be hotly contested, with reigning champions Canterbury Caledonian Pipe Band seeking a sixth consecutive Grade 1 national title.

Scots in Spirit would like to wish all participants in the Nationals - including the organisers, bands, and supporters - all the very best for the upcoming weekend. We thoroughly look forward to watching all of the action on the Live Stream and seeing all of the results!
