Waipu Caledonian Society presents "Celtic Fyre"

Earlier this year the historic Waipu Highland Games, held annually on 1 January, was washed out due to an enormous storm that swept the North Island.

As a result, the Games was effectively cancelled, with many of the major events and attractions of the day not going ahead, and the music and dancing events being scattered across the town in various indoor venues.

Due to this catastrophe, the organisers of the Games - the Waipu Caledonian Society  - suffered a huge loss in financial resources.

In order to help recover from this and fundraise for the next Highland Games, the Waipu Caledonian Society is excited to announce the holding of a grand Celtic Concert – “Celtic Fyre” – in Waipu's wonderful Celtic Barn on the Sunday of Labour Weekend, 23 October 2016.

The concert will feature a spectacular line up of renowned and award-winning Celtic artists, including fiddler Marian Burns, as well as the McSweeney Brothers, Twisty Willow, and local artists such as the Northland Caledonian Pipe Band and New Generation Ceilidh Band.
